Science and Art: the Flathead En Plein Air exhibit comes to Vancouver!

In the summer of 2012, scientists and artists descended on B.C’s Flathead River Valley to document its rare species, explore its breathtaking landscapes, and experience its natural beauty. The result? The Flathead En Plein Air art exhibit, a collection of 13 original paintings from the Flathead – a region in southeastern B.C. that has been described as one of the most ecologically important places on the planet.

Featuring works from internationally-acclaimed artist Dwayne Harty, and B.C.-based artists Laura Nelson, Tara Higgins, Joseph Cross, Denise LeMaster, and Simon Haiduk, the Flathead En Plein Air exhibit will be on display at Science World in Vancouver from May 1st to May 22nd.

(c)Laura_Nelson.jpegPlease join us for our opening night on May 4th 2015 from 6pm to 8 pm!

We will be joined by renowned conservationist Harvey Locke for an engaging discussion about the potential for conservation in the Flathead Valley. Locke’s work on conservation has been recognized both nationally and internationally, receiving the J.B. Harkin Award for Conservation (2013), the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2013), and most recently, the Fred M. Packard International Parks Merit Award (2014).

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
